Bode currently is promoting recycled aggregate concrete mixes to contractors and city departments to further reduce waste streams. This allows us to recycle waste concrete products, save users money over virgin aggregate mixes, and enhance the company's and industry's green image.

There are solid waste diversion requirements set forth in the California Integrated Waste Management Act and San Francisco Conservation Ordinance.

There is the ever growing problem of increased scarcity of virgin aggregates. A major Bay Area quarry closed in 2002 so aggregates are imported from out of the country. To transport the aggregate here takes a toll on the environment. New quarry permits take 10-15 years to be approved, if even allowed.

There is a growing popularity of using “green” building materials. The Federal government mandates and encourages “green” building construction. An example of this can be seen with the GSA Building.

There are many sources and uses for recycled aggregate. Try us out on your next project! You can see how it worked on a recent project at Lake Merced.
